Ebay

Listed on Ebay was an indoor arena football team from Wheeling that the owners were selling to the highest bidder. I was surprised to hear that this would be a way of selling a semi-pro team. I just had to check this out. The starting bid was $100,000 and they are about 1 hour or so outside of Pittsburgh.

I started thinking of how cool it would be to own a team, even though I don't know much about arena football. It would be fun to create promotions and try new ideas to increase attendance and revenue. Plus, one of the owners was staying on as a consultant and the team already has a great gameplan to follow.

I'm kinda surprised it wasn't go for more money. I don't know what the final bid was, but it only increased about $500 a couple days before the auction ended. I missed my opportunity, but I'll be ready if the Pens go on sale for $100,000!

I had a couple of really strange thoughts about puns and sports and marketing, but luckily I decided not to write them down....

Now don't hold back on our account Lorna. If it wasn't for the strange and unusual, my blog wouldn't exist!

That would be a fun day in our house. I can imagine it now ...

"Honey, we're buying the Pens. We hafta sell all our possessions to get the money together. That'll leave us about $90K short, so, how attached are you to your blood and bone marrow? I mean, you know both of those will come back. And do you really need both kidneys?"
